Week 7 (with photos)

So despite not losing anything last week, I stuck with it and as a result I have lost another pound this week!

Current weight: 12 stone 6 pounds (174 pounds)

Weight loss this week: 1 pound

Total weight loss so far: 1 stone and 2 pounds (16 pounds)

Remaining goal weight loss: 2 stone 12 pounds (40 pounds)

I also thought I’d post some more photos this week which are very interesting:

These photos have been extremely helpful and motivational so far – especially as my weight loss slows down – because they allow me to really see a difference where I may not always feel a difference. It’s nice to see that I finally have a chin again! My stomach also no longer sticks out further than my chest, which is a massive relief. Overall, I’m feeling much happier about my image at the moment which is a huge boost and I am looking forward to observing more positive changes in future photos!

This week I focused on treating myself in other ways rather than with food. Prior to starting this diet, one of my worst eating habits would come at night (especially after a long day) when I would plant myself down on the sofa and watch trashy TV whilst mindlessly stuffing my face with delicious foods. I have recently become a huge Lush fan (AKA: a “Lushie”) and so instead of spending money on snacks and/or alcohol, I bought a month’s supply of fun/relaxing bath bombs, bubble bars, creams and scrubs. In the evenings I now keep away from the sofa and instead I enjoy colourful and deliciously scented bubble baths – which have actually proved to be much more relaxing and enjoyable! My skin has certainly improved, if nothing else.

Have any of you discovered different ways of treating yourself rather than with food/alcohol? Feel free to share!

Week 6

I knew this post was coming. I could tell the weight loss was slowing down. This week, it seems it has stopped altogether. Thankfully, I haven’t gained weight, I just haven’t lost any either (although my clothes do continue to fit better).

I’m determined to stay focused but it’s hard not to feel disheartened. I also know I wasn’t as strict as I needed to be this week and I do need to make more of an effort to get to the gym… But the only way is up! Er, well, more like down I suppose – ha ha. Let’s try this again next week…

Week 5

Sorry for the late post – I had a 14 hour shift and just didn’t have the time to write a decent update! I did weigh myself yesterday however and am pleased to report that I’ve lost another pound. I’m actually very surprised by that because – I’m not gonna lie – I had an indulgent week (more on that later)!

Current weight: 12 stone 7 pounds (175 pounds)

Weight loss this week: 1 pound

Total weight loss so far: 1 stone 1 pound (15 pounds)

Remaining goal weight loss: 2 stone 13 pounds (41 pounds)

After reaching my first goal last week, I was in the mood to celebrate and not only enjoyed a two-course meal at the Broadstraik Inn but also brunch at the Sand Dollar Cafe and homemade burgers (thanks Daddy McBee). I did stick to my diet for the most part but probably could have done with a few less carbs… Although it just goes to show you can enjoy yourself whilst maintaining a diet/healthy life choices.

I also decided that this was the week to try some sugar-free baking (you probably now understand why I was so surprised at any weight loss this week)! I used recipes from a blog/book called I Quit Sugar by Sarah Wilson (link and photos below) which includes a number of excellent sugar-free and low carb recipes. Both the book and the blog provide you with great advice and tips on how to cut sugar from your life and is something I would absolutely recommend that everyone tries at some point in their lives.

This week, I made a raw cacao, raspberry and coconut cheesecake AND dark choc chip cookies which turned out great. Both recipes can be found following the links below:

I’m now at the point where weight-loss will slow down and even stall from time to time. Although it is important to incorporate treats for long-term enjoyment, there will be weeks where I need to be particularly strict… This upcoming week will be one of those weeks as I plan to exercise more and be as strict as I can in order to boost weight loss. This is where it gets tougher people! Wish me luck 🙂

1 Month, 1 Stone

Unfortunately, I’m not well today so I’ll keep this post short but I can finally say that I have lost a stone after just 4 weeks of starting this diet! I’m absolutely delighted!

Here’s how things stand:

Current weight: 12 stone 8 pounds (176 pounds)

Weight loss this week: 2 pounds

Total weight loss so far: 1 stone (14 pounds)

Remaining goal weight loss: 3 stone (42 pounds)

That’s all from me just now – I promise I’ll write a better post next week!

Week 3

That’s another 2 pounds off this week. I was much less excited about this because I lost a lot more in the previous two weeks, but I need to remind myself that 2 pounds is still an amazing result. In only 3 weeks, I’ve managed to lose a total 12 pounds! Just 2 pounds to go until I’ve lost a stone!

Current weight: 12 stone 10 pounds (178 pounds)

Weight loss this week: 2 pounds

Total weight loss so far: 12 pounds

Remaining goal weight loss: 3 stone 2 pounds (44 pounds)

Also, here’s a photo to mark my progress after 3 weeks:

I still have a long way to go – I’m certainly still not happy with way I look in the second photo – but it’s great to see a difference. Just imagine the photos once I’ve reached my goal weight! I’m so motivated now!

It does get quite difficult from here onwards because I will start to lose less each week as things begin to balance out. From previous experience, I’ve noticed that I get quite frustrated when I lose only small amounts of weight or nothing at all – but I need to remind myself that this is normal. As long as I focus on the long-term goals and take each week as it comes, I should get through this. If anyone has been through a weight-loss journey, please feel free to share your story and any tips on how you remained focused!

In other news, I discovered some great high protein flapjack bars this week which are ideal for a quick breakfast (I am NOT a morning person so this is helpful for me). The trick is to make sure I don’t have more than two bars a week because of the carb content but they only cost 90p and are a much more affordable option compared to Atkins bars (which are about £3 each). They actually contain a higher amount of protein than the Atkins bars as well and are made of gluten-free oats, coconut, high protein soya and rice syrup (natural sweetener). I definitely recommend them!
